Gluten Free Honey Nut Chex

In August, I had the pleasure to go to Minneapolis to meet the fabulous General Mills Family. We loved General Mills before, but we are in love after meeting the family and trying out some new products that were in the makings. One that I was able to try and my family was able to test out is the new Gluten Free Honeynut Chex. Love! Love! Love this! We are avid cereal eaters in our house, so knowing this was gluten free AND tasted great is all a great bonus for our family.

GlutenFreeHoneyNutChexBoxWhat does gluten free mean?
Gluten is a natural protein that is found in wheat, barley, rye and oats. Foods and ingredients made from these grains may also contain gluten. For example, flour, rye bread, graham crackers, and bulgur all contain gluten.
Who needs gluten free foods?

  • It’s estimated that 1 out of every 133 Americans have celiac disease, which is a chronic inherited digestive disorder that can cause damage to the small intestine.
  • When a person with celiac disease eats gluten, their immune system is triggered and it begins to attack the small intestine, resulting in damage to the villi which make up the lining of the small intestine. The villi are necessary for the absorption of nutrients. Over time, the damage to the villi can lead to malnutrition.

Why gluten free Chex®?
Chex® cereals1 are examples of gluten free products. They have no gluten-containing ingredients so it is a great option for those following a gluten free diet. In addition, one delicious, crunchy serving of Chex® contains at least 8 grams of whole grain* with less than 10 grams of sugar.

I am really excited about the whole Gluten Free line because we have looked everywhere for gluten free, but when we are able to find something, it is outrageously priced and tastes like cardboard (in my opinion). Chex Gluten Free line is tasty and affordable; oh, and you can buy it at any grocery store! No hunting it down at an herbal specialty store. Huge plus for us!
